The awards are the ‘Oscars’ of the teaching profession, celebrating the amazing work being done in schools and colleges across the UK and recognising transformational teaching.
The College’s SEND team, rated outstanding by Ofsted, provides training and education for young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. Employability is the key focus and the College’s supported internship programme is highly successful, identifying and securing a range of employment opportunities for students.
The College was recognised in the Further Education Team of the Year category – up against strong competition from college teams across the country.
Assistant Principal (SEND) at London South East Colleges, Rhona Sapsford, says: “We are always delighted to have our work recognised, especially on a national level. However, our focus is always on our young people – increasing their confidence, improving their skills and where possible, supporting them into employment.
“I am hugely grateful to the wonderful team of staff we have here for their commitment and dedication to the students – particularly through the Covid-19 pandemic.”
