The 32-year-old mother of two from Dartford has managed to balance home, work and student life to achieve top marks in her Construction Management HNC course and pave the way to a lucrative career in the construction and built environment industry.

Dupe already holds a BSc degree in business and human resource management and decided, two years ago, to extend her professional skills and knowledge with a qualification that can lead her into a career as a senior construction planner.

Celebrating with her family, Dupe said: “I am extremely proud of all my achievements. I received a distinction grade to complete my course and this recognition by the CIOB is the real ‘icing on the cake’. It means so much to me and it’s wonderful that my children are here to watch their mum go up on stage and be presented with this award. I hope they will always remember this moment and be inspired by it.

“I would like to thank London South East Colleges; particularly the staff at its Bexley Campus. My two fabulous tutors, Elizabeth and Stephen gave me so much support and encouragement throughout the course and have helped me to develop my knowledge and understanding of the construction industry. Since I started here, my confidence has grown immensely and I have become a much better communicator.

“I would advise anyone wanting to better themselves and create much bigger opportunities in their life to consider doing what I have done. It will be the best decision they will ever make. It means hard work, late nights and positive thinking but it will all pay off. A big thank you to the College and the CIOB for everything they have done for me.

Peter Smith FCIOB presented Dupe with her award. He said: “I am honoured to attend this ceremony and present this amazing student with her award. Dupe has been an inspiration to her fellow students and a credit to the College. She has worked relentlessly to achieve highly and this is just the beginning of what will be an amazing journey for her.”
